How to afford college

With college tuition prices increasing, how are you going to afford to pay for tuition, fees and room and board? Check out some creative ways to afford college.

Live at home: If you are attending college close to home, consider living with your parents. This will eliminate the cost of room and board.

Start at community college: To save money, consider starting out at community college before transferring to a four-year school. You can get your general classes out of the way at a cheaper price.

Start your own savings plan: While some parents save money for their kids' college, consider setting up your own savings plan. Money from gifts and part-time high school jobs can go into this account.

Work part-time: Contribute to your college fees while you're in college by working part-time. This can help provide money for spending and fees.
