Do your audiologists only perform hearing evaluations and dispense hearing aids? What other services are offered?
We are a comprehensive audiology department offering audiological evaluations for birth through geriatric patient populations. We have an array of diagnostic tools to utilize in the appropriate assessment and diagnosis of your hearing and middle ear status. We also offer remediation solutions such as advanced amplification devices (i.e., hearing aids, TV listening systems, amplified phones, amplified stethoscopes, and many other hearing assistance technology options). We offer a full line of hearing protection options from custom silicone earplugs to electronic hearing protection devices. Custom swimplugs offer wonderful protection of ears especially following surgical insertion of pressure equalization tubes.
Diagnostic vestibular evaluations are performed to further investigate inner ear involvement as a cause for dizziness and/or vertigo. Treatment is available for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) which is the leading cause for positional vertigo. This particular therapy method is usually successful in one treatment in most cases and without the need for additional medication.
Peoria Ear, Nose and Throat Group offers implantable hearing devices such as cochlear implants and Baha which is a bone anchored hearing aid. Dr. James Klemens is our otolaryngologist who specializes in surgical implantation of these devices. Programming and follow up care is provided both by OSF Audiology Department for the cochlear implants and by our audiologists for the Baha device. These are very specialized solutions and Peoria Ear, Nose and Throat Group is proud to be amongst only a select few in central Illinois to offer these expanded options to treat those difficult hearing losses and to improve the lives of those we serve.
