Did you know today is International Day of Happiness as declared by the United Nations General Assembly! None of us should forget this as we start today with a smile on our collective faces.

Happiness as defined by Wikipedia “is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.”

Why not talk with your children about “being happy” and what that may mean.  Ask them “what do you think makes you happy?”.  I am sure you will get all sorts of interesting answers.  In fact it might be fun to write the answers down and compare what they say at different ages. You might also ask them to draw a picture of “being happy”.

As a parent you know what you might have said made you “happy” years ago,  is probably not the same today. For many parents the answer to “what makes you happy”, is probably “my children”. (at least the majority of the time, right?).

So....make March 20th a day to celebrate things, big or small, that may bring a smile to your face.  Be happy.....
