WASHINGTON -- National American Legion members are helping rebuild hope. Former National Commander Martin Conaster toured American Legion Post 100.

Thanks to a National Emergency Fund, the legion had enough money to distribute more than $27,000 to local members affected by the tornado. The legion was able to provide more than $1,000 to each of 25 families.

National Vice-Commander Robert Newman is in the middle of touring legion posts around the state as part of a membership drive.
