Caterpillar Cutting 167 Jobs in Lafayette, Indiana

Caterpillar plans to cut 167 jobs at its Lafayette Indiana plant in September, according to a report in the Lafayette newspaper. Caterpillar, which employs about 1850 full time employees and 470 temporary workers in Lafayette, Indiana said the cuts are coming from the flexible workforce, which fluctuates with demand. Caterpillar says the job cut decision in Indiana has nothing to do with the labor dispute at the Joliet plant.
