In the third quarter, Big Yellow continued record growth.
It set an all-time record for profit-per-share of $2.54, which is up 49% from $1.71 in the third quarter of 2011.
Sales and revenue were $16.4 billion, up 5% from $15.7 billion in the third quarter of last year.
Caterpillar expects 2012 sales and revenues to be about $66 billion, with profit in the range of $9 to $9.25 per share. The previous outlook for sales and revenues was a range of $68 to $70 billion with profit of about $9.60 per share at the middle of the sales and revenues outlook range.
