Two Peoria men, one of whom was just paroled this summer from prison, pleaded NOT GUILTY Thursday to charges stemming from a double shooting in mid August. 20 year old Timothy Shumate is facing two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of mob action. Those charges stem from an August 15th shooting in which two people were wounded in the parking lot of the South Metro Market on Starr Street. A second man, 24 year old Robert Lawson is also charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon. The arrests were made by the city's violent crime task force. Lawson, whose being held on two million dollars bond, and Shumate, whose being held on a million dollar bond, will appear in court October 14th.
