Honoring Uncle Oral

Help thank a man who risked his life for our freedom by sending him a card

PEORIA, IL - Sixteen million brave Americans served in World War II. Today, nearly 560,000 remain. Here in Illinois, we have nearly 21,000 of these great veterans among us. These courageous men and women deserve our undying gratitude. If you haven't had the opportunity to share your appreciation, I have a wonderful way for you to do just that for a deserving man who endured the unthinkable.

Many who shared these trying experiences found solace in the comforting words of loved ones in letters. Sadly, for one local veteran, Oral J. Godbey, that didn't happen. During his years of service, he never received one letter. But, you have an opportunity to change that. His nephew, Louie Ervin, is here to explain how.

If you would like to help honor Oral Godbey, you can do so by writing to him using the following address:       Oral Godbey, c/o Aline Wallace, P.O. Box 409, Cuba IL 61427-0409.
