WASHINGTON, IL - "Brothers, above the starry canopy There must dwell a loving Father. Do you fall in worship, you millions? World, do you know your creator? Seek him in the heavens; Above the stars must He dwell." Those powerful words were penned in 1785 by German poet, playwright, and historian Friedrich Schiller. In 1824, the great composer, Ludwig van Beethoven, included that ode in what is considered one of the greatest symphonies in the western canon, Beethoven's 9th Symphony. If you have never had the opportunity to experience it live, you must do so. It is being presented this weekend by Maestro David Commanday and the amazing Heartland Festival Orchestra. He joins me with all of the details.
