4 District 87 schools have higher than allowable levels for lead

Sheridan, Bent, Oakland and Irving schools are in violation

BLOOMINGTON - 4 District 87 schools have higher than allowable levels for lead. That's the case under state guidelines created after the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.

District 87 Superintendent Barry Reilly confirmed to our news partner WJBC that 8 water sources at Sheridan, Bent, Oakland and Irving schools were in violation. Reilly said water is shut off and fixtures are being replaced. Filters are being added and the water will be retested.

The fix is estimated to cost $20 thousand dollars.
