A birthday celebration gone wrong

"I was celebrating my birthday," says Shannon McNeal.

A family get together that turned into a tragedy.

Eric Brownlee was found dead in the backyard of McNeal's house Friday night.

"He lost his life over a song," says Tonja Casten, McNeal's girlfriend who was at the party. "That's what's sad about it. He just didn't deserve that."

After investigating throughout the weekend, detectives were able to identify, and find, where the suspect was located.

Tuesday afternoon, Aaron Jamerson was indicted for first degree murder.

Although Jamerson will still have to go through a trial in the near future, friends and neighbors are happy the indictment process was handled so quickly.

"I was very happy they caught him," says Casten. "Very happy. I thought it would take longer than it did but thank God it didn't."

If you have any information regarding the incident, Peoria Police urge you to call its department at (309) 673-4521, or Crime Stoppers at (309) 673-9000, as soon as possible.
