Ameren Gives Grants to Defrost Heating Bills

Eligible residents saw savings of up to $150 dollars

BLOOMINGTON - Almost 400 people from McLean County sought help with their energy bills.

Ameren Illinois and Mid-Central Community Action partnered for a community outreach effort.

Ameren representatives were on hand to help residents find energy efficiencies to lower their electricity bills.

They also offered grants to low-income residents $150 dollars to defray the cost of winter heating.

Ameren Spokesperson Stacey Young told us, "If you have gotten behind, come in. Let's talk about your energy bill, let's talk about what we can do, because a service interruption is something we never want to do. It is always a last resort."

This is the first time Ameren has held an event like this in McLean County.
