Area Youth Learn Interview Skills at State Farm

Mock interviews help students prepare for the real world

BLOOMINGTON - Students in McLean County got some hands-on career advice at State Farm this morning.

They performed mock interviews and resume workshops with professionals.

The students were taught "soft skills," including the importance of eye contact and how to "sell yourself" in an interview.

They will be able to take their new skill-set to help them transition from high school into the workforce.

Bloomington Area Career Center Director Tom Frazier told us, "It gets kids out of their comfort zone and they have to work with somebody outside of the school walls which is always beneficial."

350 students from across McLean County took part in the mock interviews.
