Bloomington city manager accepts new job

David Hales accepted a job as Joliet's new city manager.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bloomington's city manager is leaving his post to become the Joliet City Manager.

The Joliet City Council voted Tuesday to authorize his new contract for $215,000. Hales was making $189,000 in Bloomington, where he has served since 2008.

Hales to the Joliet council that he accepts the job with pride and humility.

Our news partner WJBC is reporting that Hales will likely  begin his new job the Monday before Thanksgiving.
