Bloomington moves forward on street plan

BLOOMINGTON - Bloomington is moving forward on a plan that could change the way roads are repaired.

The planning commission met last night to discuss the city's brick streets master plan. The plan would preserve brick streets that are in good condition, rather than replacing them with other, cheaper means, like asphalt. Brick streets are more expensive to maintain, but last longer.

Public works director, Jim Karch, said the committee unanimously approved the plan, sending it to City Council. Council will review it during their second meeting in October.
