UPDATE: Human bones found on property in Pekin

A full skeleton has been found in nearby woods.

TAZEWELL COUNTY - UPDATE- Upon further inspection, police found more remains in the woods nearby. Tazewell County Chief Deputy Jeffrey Lower said a complete skeleton has been found.

The Deputy said it's procedure to then look at all missing person's cases in the area.

"Please be patient, we are trying to do everything by the book, we want to be able to follow up on every lead, and make sure that we can identify the person properly. So as soon as we have that information we will pass it on" said Lower.

Lower said only dental records can identify the remains.

The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, Pekin Police Department, and Illinois State Police are working to identify bones found in Pekin Monday afternoon.

Around 2:14 P.M., the owner of the property on Illinois Route 29 south of VFW road came upon the bones near a fence while mowing.
