C.I. students share art with local airports

PEORIA, Il. - In support of arts advocacy day, local students are being celebrated.

It's a story that's making us central Illinois proud. Tuesday morning the Airport Authority of Peoria unveiled works of art by students from 7 area high-schools, including Dunlap, Princeville, and IVC.

Students were asked to work together to create an aviation piece of art that will be on display at both Peoria International and Mt. Hawley Airport. Director of Airports Gene Olson says its important for PIA to reflect the city's cultural ascetic through public art.

“It’s good for both sides, we have attractive things to hang in the building so people will have something to look at while they’re here, and then the artists get some exposure,” said Olson

Within the next year more than 1-million people are expected to see the works of art.
