Doctors Ride Into Peoria

The specialists are riding in order to create more cooperation between hospitals

PEORIA - More than a dozen specialized doctors from the University of Chicago making a stop in the River City today.

But it's their mode of transportation that's turning heads.

14 bicycles pulled into the Peoria Cancer Center.

The doctors are promoting cooperation in their field by touring the premier medical facilities in Illinois and Indiana.

They all work in the urology and robotic surgery center at the University.

The group started in Bloomington and will head to Joliet next.

Organizers hope the ride sparks more cooperation between hospitals.

Dr. Arieh Shalav of the University of Chicago sats "We have a great relation with the physicians here to work with them on these more complex patients and to do the best we can to cure cancer."

The doctors toured the Peoria Cancer Center before continuing their trek.
