Dozens Rally Against GOP Health Care

Around 80 people came out to protest the new Republican plan.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Dozens of people come together in the Twin Cities to rally against the new Republican health care plan.

The group Stand Up for Social Justice holds a vigil every month in Bloomington. Nearly 80 people turned up, despite frigid temperatures to fight back agains the plan. Its members say this new GOP backed bill will hurt seniors and working families.

Guest speaker Dr. David Gill, who is running against Congressman Rodney Davis in the next election says there were obvious issues with Obamacare, but it's good components are being stripped away with the new plan, and will leave millions uninsured.

"I'm well aware of what happens when people don't have appropriate access to care. They wind up much sicker than is necessary. They wind up dying sooner than necessary," says Gill, a physician.

The group is hoping to show lawmakers and the community that they are willing to stand up for this issue.
