Dream Center Peoria Celebrates 15 Years

PEORIA, Ill. - Dream Center Peoria is celebrating 15 years of helping the community with a banquet Thursday night.

The theme is "The Story", as the Dream Center highlights the stories of 15 of its clients. The center provides a 24-hour homeless shelter, which sees 60-70 women and children per night. The average age in the homeless shelter is 9-years-old. It also has ministry and other programs.

Dream Center hopes to continue impacting families living in poverty starting with kids.

"For us this is what we live for this is why we get out of bed everyday to do what we do there's always need but there's always willing people to help with the need and that's what we really wanted to do tonight is share the stories but also ask people to step up and help us as well." Executive Director of the Dream Center Peoria, Andy King, says.

The Dream Center says it will continue to look for ways to fill needs in the community. Next year, the Dream Center plans to open a trade school.
