Easterseals Learning Academy is now open

The new facility is in Germantown Hills

The Easterseals Learning Academy is open. The facility in Germantown Hills will accommodate about 30 kids in the Woodford County area. The classrooms are adapted to assist students with Autism and neurological disorders. The director of special education in Woodford County said these classrooms give the kids an environment not offered in a traditional public school setting.

"Having a smaller environment, being able to have more intensive counseling and more more intensive therapies and approaches, just makes them able to work through whatever issues that they may have, and our ultimate goal again is to get them back to the public school setting and prepare them for after school" said Eric Scroggs, director of Woodford County Special Education.

Scroggs said the new school will serve kids locally, who previously had to travel over an hour to school.
