Health Career Expo at Methodist College

Middle school students get an opportunity to explore health careers.

Methodist College partnered with the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council (EDC) for a health career expo.

About 200 students got to see what nurses and medical assistants do on a daily basis.

According to a job forecast, almost 3,000 healthy industry jobs will be available within the region.

"Especially when they're entering into high school and they can choose what classes they'll be taking, it's really important for them to understand what careers are out there and what careers are in demand and what they'll actually be able to be employed in in the near future," said Kate Cundiff, director of workforce solutions for Greater Peoria EDC.

Greater Peoria EDC hopes the expo will encourage students to consider going into a medical field.
