BLOOMINGTON - The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is taking a look at the opioid crisis.

On Wednesday, panels discussed the criminal justice response to addiction, ways to assist those who need help, and places to get treatment.

Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti listened to survival stories at the conference, and vowed she will not quit fighting to stop opioid addiction.

"This is a problem that's attacking all neighborhoods, all colors, all class, said Illinois Republican Lt. Gov., Evelyn Sanguinetti. "Opioids is a problem that's attacking the nation and so we need to talk about it."

Sanguinetti said in the next three years, the state looks to avoid opioid related deaths by one-third.
