Interim City Manager announcement anticipated

BLOOMINGTON - The City Council is anticipated to name Steve Rasmussen as Interim City Manager at a Special Meeting on Thursday, October 26 at 3 pm.

The appointee will be effective November 8, immediately following current City Manager David Hales’ final day before departing to become City Manager of Joliet.

Rasmussen's background includes over 28 years of service in the military. He received his bachelors degree in Engineering from the US Air Force Academy and holds two masters degrees, one in English from Syracuse University and one in International Affairs from Salve Regina University.

Rasmussen started work for the City of Bloomington in November 2014 as Assistant City Manager.

“I am pleased we are looking to appoint Steve Rasmussen as Bloomington’s Interim City Manager,” explains Mayor Tari Renner. “He has history and background with Bloomington and will provide the stability needed during this critical interim period while we perform a key search for the next City Manager of Bloomington. I appreciate his willingness to serve.”
