Local cop named Officer of the Year

BLOOMINGTON, Ill - A local police officer in the twin cities is receiving high recognition for all of the hard work he's done around the community.

The Police Benevolent and Protective Association (PB&PA) names Officer Nikolai Jones, of the Bloomington Police Department, Officer of the Year.

He's recognized for the level of service he gives back to his community, helping in programs like Guns & Hoses, Shop with A Cop, Toys for Tots, Polar Bear Plunge, and more.

Officer Jones is known for his passion and devotion to the Illinois Special Olympics, In 2016, BPD received the Special Olympics Flame of Hope award.

Officer Jones has also received numerous B.P.D Letters of Commendation, and recently received the Advocate BroMenn Public Safety Responder Champion award.
