PEORIA - A man was sentenced Friday to 63 years in prison for killing one man and shooting another in 2015.
Darren Brown was sentenced to 55 years for killing Nikko Smith, and 8 years on aggravated battery charges for shooting another man. He must serve at least 85% of his sentence, but receives credit for the 25 months he's been in custody so far. Brown was found guilty in July.
There was a motioned filed to reconsider the case. That is scheduled for next week.
