McLean man faces up to 20 years in prison for robbery conviction

PEORIA - A man from McLean, Illinois is waiting to be sentenced following a robbery conviction. 34-year-old Scott Books was convicted Wednesday after an hour long jury deliberation in a federal courtroom.

Scott was recognized by a teller during a robbery at the Land of Lincoln Credit Union in Normal on July 28th, 2016. During the trial, prosecutors said Scott entered the credit union wearing a partial mask, gloves and was carrying what appeared to be a firearm.

A Normal Police and FBI investigation later discovered he sent a text to a friend the same day saying, "What bank should I rob today?"

Scott is being held by the U.S. Marshals Service. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
