Midwest Food Bank to contribute to Hurricane Harvey disaster relief efforts

Two semi loads of food and supplies will leave for Texas on Friday

Hurricane Harvey could make landfall in the Gulf sometime this weekend, so Peoria's Midwest Food Bank is answering the call to help.

The organization is sending disaster relief boxes to Texas in anticipation of the hurricane.

The food bank is readying two semi loads of food and supplies to leave on Saturday.

"We can't control the weather, but we can control our response to it," says Jody Smith-Brown, director of development at Peoria's Midwest Food Bank.
