Normal woman faces animal cruelty charge

NORMAL - A 61-year-old woman faces animal cruelty charges in the Twin Cities.

Our news partner, WJBC Radio reports, Susan Greene has been charged with killing her dog, Carla, after leaving her outside in the cold for two days.
Neighbors called police after noticing Carla hadn't been brought inside.

An investigator at the Humane Society of Central Illinois said there seems to be an uptick in animal cruelty cases.

"We're seeing a little bit more, not so much locally, thank goodness, but there does seem to an uptick in that a bit," said Kim Miller, Humane Society of Central Illinois Investigator. "But there also seems to be an uptick in prosecuting those cases, which is good."

Miller said if you've seen an animal being abused, call a humane society, or animal control to check it out.
