Officials investigate apartment fire in Peoria

An apartment fire is under investigation this morning.

Peoria firefighters were called to the 600 block of W. Hillyer just after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Crews found heavy smoke coming from the kitchen window of a 3-story apartment building.

No one was home at the time of the fire, which was quickly put out by firefighters.

No injuries were reported but the Red Cross is assisting occupants with clothing and a place to stay.

Officials estimate the fire caused $10,000 in damages.
