Packers Players release National Anthem statement

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay Packers players are taking a stance on the National Anthem for tomorrow night's game against the Chicago Bears.

A statement posted on the Packers official website says that the team would like for everyone in the stadium to link arms during the national anthem to project an image of unity.

Last week in the NFL, players on nearly every team demonstrated some sort of protest during the playing of the national anthem, whether it was kneeling, sitting, raising a fist, or linking arms, and that includes the Packers.

Before Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, most Packers players linked arms on the sidelines during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner, while three players: Martellus Bennett, Lance Kendricks, and Kevin King sat on the bench.

In the statement, that was signed with "The Packers Players" the packers say, in part, "this Thursday during the National Anthem at Lambeau Field, Packers players, coaches and staff will join together with arms intertwined-connected like the threads on your favorite jersey... It will represent a coming together of players who want the same things that all of us do-freedom, equality, tolerance, understanding, and justice for those who have been unjustly treated, discriminated against or otherwise treated unfairly."
