Peoria Friendship House meets food drive goal

They received over 10 tons of food during their Stuff-A-Bus food drive

PEORIA - Peoria Friendship House called in some muscle to help unload over 10 tons of food Tuesday. The non-profit met their goal for their 30th annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive. The Peoria Rivermen unloaded 20,096 pounds of non-perishable goods from a CityLink bus into the Peoria Friendship House.

CityLink and Kroger paired with Friendship House to raise donations of non-perishable foods and canned goods. Friendship House's CEO said these donations will keep their shelves stocked for the majority of the upcoming year.

"What we do is we put this in our- we have a pantry but this won't fit in our pantry. So we've got a couple other storage areas that we put this food and then slowly but surely we get it out to the public" said Robert Montgomery, CEO of Peoria Friendship House.

Montgomery said they were shocked, but grateful to have met their goal.
