Peoria man faces 55 years in prison

PEORIA - A man in Peoria faces up to 55 years behind bars after he's accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend.

21-year-old Carlos Williams was indicted on charges of home invasion, aggravated battery, felony possession of a weapon, and aggravated domestic battery after the October 6th incident in the 100 block of North Village Green Court

The victim told police Williams tried to break into her apartment.

She refused to let him in but he returned later in the day shooting into the home, hitting her twice in the hip.

Home invasion is the most serious charge Williams is facing. 

His bond remains at $500-thousand dollars. He is due back in court October 26th.
