Coroner confirms identity of first Peoria homicide victim of 2018

Peoria Police are searching for answers in the City's first homicide of 2018.

Just before 1pm officers were called to West Starr on reports of a man down and bleeding.

When they arrived they found the victim shot, seated in the front seat of a car parked in a garage in the alley along West Malone Ave.

Parents of 22-year-old Kamry Harris tell our crew on scene their son was killed in the shooting Wednesday afternoon.  The Peoria County Coroner confirmed the identity.

“I’m not sure how many times he was shot or what caliber he was shot with,” said Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. “We are gonna have an autopsy scheduled for tomorrow and we will be able to release more information at that time.”

WMBD's DaLaun Dillard spoke with Harris' parents who told him Harris took his girlfriend's car to get fixed at a garage on Starr when evidently someone came and shot him.

A second unidentified victim was found nearby. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
