PPS students work to bring life back into Peoria Stadium

PEORIA, Ill - A group of Peoria Public School students from Richwoods Highschool who help with the advertisement sales of the app Appsco, are doing what they can to help historic Peoria Stadium be renovated.
Originally set up to raise money for school district goals, Appsco is expanding its focus of generating revenue from an LED advertisement sign at Peoria stadium, to raising funds for the entire complex.

“Hope to create four new multi purpose fields, be it football lacrosse, flag football, or cricket,” said Alexis Khazzam, CEO of Appsco.

With the help of PPS, students will encourage business's to purchase advertising, naming rights and more.

Khazzam adds, “ As the public school district sets up this committee to steer this organization fundraising committee, these kids will go make presentations.” He adds, “They’re pretty convincing and good, I think they'll have success.”

Money raised will be used to refurbish the stadiums media box, track course, and other amenities to help make the stadium a top destination.

“The track right now can not even host an official IHSA meet because its too narrow,” said Khazzam,

“5 to 6,000 people over a course of a couple days can easily bring in 25 to $30,000, the facility has to be able to produce revenue,” Khassam adds.

Running Central owner Adam White, who ran for Notre Dame High, and participated in meets at Peoria Stadium, says he is proud of the next generation for stepping up and trying to preserve one of the Rivercity’s gems.

“These kids clearly understand the value of that stadium to the history of central Illinois greater Peoria, what it means today and what it will mean if it is gone in the future,” said White.

Appsco says they plan to continue speaking with sponsors to get them on board and hopefully have enough money raised by April.
