Screams of terror can be heard as hundreds of people walk the halls of the Haunted Infirmary

BARTONVILLE - Halloween is right around the coroner, and people from all over Illinois are getting in the spirit, and into one of the area's most infamous haunted houses.

Michael Myers was helping greet people standing in line at the Haunted Infirmary at the old Bartonville Insane Asylum Saturday night where hundreds of people come to check out the infamous haunted house.

The Mistress says, "We see anywhere from 500 to 800 people a night. We see as many as we can because we always need new subjects."

People from near and far come to check out the creepy attraction every year. "We see them from states away, matter of fact, we see them from countries away," says The Mistress.

A lot of the guests that were there on Saturday night were from more than an hour and a half away, but no matter where they come from, people say its the old asylum's history that draws them in.

Ross Gaunt says, "It's actually a place for everybody to come out and then it's got a lot of history behind it, actually being haunted." Steve Nash says, "Hey haunted's great for Halloween. That's what you want."

Many people believe the buildings that surround the attraction are home to more than few real ghost.

Gaunt says, "Just being from around here and kind of knowing an idea of what this place is all about, so it even kind of gives this whole deal a little more than really just being a spooky place that they put on there's a little bit more history behind it."

No matter why you come out to the Haunted Infirmary, you're sure to be in for a treat.

The Haunted Infirmary last day for theis year is Saturday, October 28th.
