Suspect in hit and run found not fit to stand trial

GALESBURG - The woman accused of running down a cyclist earlier this month has been found unfit to stand trial.

45-year-old Jacqueline Wells is accused of hitting retired police officer Andrew Tolle twice as he rode his bike, eventually running over him. Wells is charged with attempted murder in the case.

The court ruled Wells could gain fitness within the next year. She is now in the custody of the Illinois Department of Human Services, which will create a report complete with her diagnosis and treatment plan. She'll be back in court June 16 and will attend status hearings every 45 days to monitor her progress.

Tolle is in good condition following the incident.
