Teen police say shot & killed Trayvon Harris to be released

PEORIA, Ill. - The teen who police say shot and killed Trayvon Harris after a drug deal went wrong was back in court Thursday afternoon.16 year old Harris was shot to death at Columbia Terrace and Broadway on October 29th.

The suspect apologized to Judge Mark Gilles for his behavior on November 9th, when in court he cursed at the judge and was held in contempt.

After the apology, the court dismissed the contempt charge. Until the trial the judge ruled the juvenile can be released on an electronic monitor and is to have no contact with the victim's family.

He is due back in court for a pre-trial on December 21st. The teen, who is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, will go to trial on that felony on January 11th.
