"Thrills, spills and chills" attract fans to this legendary race

The Grand National TT Championship was in Bartonville Sunday.

Bartonville, IL - "I love racing I love motorcycles and, I really I just had to check this out. I've heard a lot about it over the years and I've never made it so this was my year to come see them myself" said Jacob Garver from Champaign.

Thousands of racing fans piled into the Peoria Motorcycle Club Race Park Sunday. The clubs president said this is the longest consecutive running dirt track race in the world. It's legacy attracts all ages.

"If you look around in the crowd you'll see a lot of kids, people bring their kids out here and it's a multi generational thing so, fathers brought their kids and their kids and now they're brining their kids" said Kevin Brashear, club president.

Fans said what draws them to the event is the danger, and the fast pace.

"Thrills, chills and spills" said Brashear.

"I think it takes a certain kind of person to get out there and do that. A lot of people would rather watch than do it themselves" said Lauryn Arnzen, of Leipold, MO.

Brashear said around 10,000 people come out, traveling from all over the country.

"A lot of people tell me that this is on their bucket list, so it's something if you're a motorcycle racing enthusiast, you have to come to Peoria" said Brashear.

"We've met people from all over, and met them from all four corners of the United states, this is kind of a historical event so everyone was really excited about it" said Arnzen.
