UICOMP Celebration of Excellence

PEORIA - Nearly 90 faculty and physicians of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria will be honored at the UICOMP Celebration of Excellence.

Two prominent neuroscientists; of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria will be honored for their dedication to teaching and service to the community at the 2017 Celebration of Excellence.

Longtime community staple to child and family welfare, Children’s Home, and a physician who has worked to make Naloxone interventions available in the community to decrease the number of drug overdose deaths, Dr. Tamara Olt, will be recognized with the 2017 Community Health Awards.

Dr. Tamara Olt is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist in private practice. She lost her 16-year-old son Joshua to an accidental heroin overdose in 2012. Since then, she has devoted her time to advancing harm reduction practices.

Dr. Ken Fukuchi, Dr. David Z. Wang will be honored at faculty members of the year. 

The UICOMP Celebration of Excellence will take place at 1 Illini Drive, Thursday, Oct. 26 from beginning at 5:30pm.
