UPDATE: Prosecutors say weekend stabbing may have been an act of self defense

McLean County prosecutors say a weekend stabbing that took the life of a Bloomington man may have been an act of self defense.

Our newspartner WJBC Radio reports that 21 year old Cullen Hedrick, who died from a stab wound to the chest Saturday, may have been trying to attack someone with a machete.

During a court hearing, it was revealed that Brittney Mikesell, who is Hedrick's girlfriend, has been charged with aggravated battery. McLean County prosecutors say Hedrick and Mikesell, who is accused of spraying an unidentified man with pepper spray and spitting on a rescue worker, confronted the man at Cardinal Ridge Mobile Home Park in Bloomington.

They say that's where Hedrick allegedly swung a machete at the man, who then got up and stabbed Hedrick.

So far, no one has been charged in Hedrick's death.
