PEORIA, Ill - We're learning more about the teen that was shot and killed in Peoria over the weekend.
The 16 year old has been identified as Trayvon Harris. The teen was killed near the intersection of Broadway and Columbia Terrace.
An autopsy revealed that Harris was shot 3 times in the chest.
Many neighbors in the area made it clear that they don’t feel safe in the neighborhood and that the city needs to implement programs that will help keep teens active and off the streets.
"It's kids killing kids," says Peoria resident Aaron McFadden. "Parents need to get a better angle on their kids, they don't need to be running around here with guns and stuff making neighborhoods unsafe a lot of people don't feel in our neighborhood," he says. "Give these kids doing something, it's too many ways that we could get kids out of the streets and back into activities that we keep cutting."
At this time it's unclear why Harris was shot but the Peoria Police Department is investigating the incident.
