Would you stay in the cold for 16 hours? This woman did.

To show what the homeless go through each winter

PEKIN - Some drove right past her without batting an eye. Others couldn't help but do a double take at the fully bundled woman on the street corner, outside First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

"Keeping my toes warm, my fingers have been okay, my toes seem to be the hardest to keep warm so you would definitely need some good think thermal socks" said Lisa Beyer.

Starting 5 pm Tuesday night, Beyer faced the elements to show what the homeless population suffer though each winter.

"It was important to me to be out here overnight, cause during the day there might be places people can go to warm up, and overnight they can't, and so I wanted to have at least a similar experience to what they have to go through so I could let people know."

She stayed out for 16 hours, and asked for donations and prayers from anyone who would listen. All ages bore the chill to support her.

"They don't have a home and, (it's) kind of sad and we want to donate some money" said Seth Eeten, who came with his family to donate.

"It's lonely, it's isolating you know the traffic slows down, people aren't around to notice you. I was blessed and had friends come visit me in the night, but being lonely out here, I can only imagine is a huge problem for the homeless population" said Beyer.

She plans to donate all money and items to the homeless in Central Illinois.

"I cannot imagine- it would be kind of harsh living out here" said Eeten.

She now realizes the chilling reality of what long-term exposure would do to her.

"I would probably lose some toes, I'm not kidding. I have great socks, I have great boots on and my toes are still cold, my fingertips are still cold. As soon as I take my gloves off I'm cold" said Beyer.

One woman on a street corner. Trying to warm those without shelter tonight.

If you missed Lisa, you can still bring donations to First United Methodist Church of Pekin.
