YWCA partners with ISU for conference

NORMAL, Ill. - A McLean County organization partners with Illinois State University to continue their mission on eliminating racism and empowering women.

Instead of hosting their annual Humanity Summit, this year the YWCA partnered with ISU to hold a Culturally Responsive Campus Community conference. Their goal was to bring the community, and ISU students together to bring light to racism, sexism, diversity and many other prevalent topics.

"When we think about diversity in the classroom, and when you have people from different backgrounds, and we talk about these differences, it brings different perspectives," said Stacey Hardin, Chair of the Culturally Responsive Campus Community(CRCC). "So your conversations, your discussions in the classroom are going to be a lot more robust."

The conference is free and open to the public, but space is filling up. It continues through Tuesday.
