WASHINGTON -- Some residents are rebuilding their homes a little differently than they were before last year's tornado. Some families are using the construction as an opportunity to add safe rooms to their basements. They will be made of concrete ceilings and walls. They can be used as refuge in an emergency.

One homeowner says the addition isn't too expensive and it's important. He adds, the addition will give him and his family peace of mind. The cost varies depending on the size; most ranging from $5,000 - $10,000.
