PEORIA - There are steps riders and other motorists can take to prevent these sort of accidents from happening.

Experts at Walters Brothers Harley-Davidson say this is one the busiest times of the year for motorcyclists.

They stress the need for other motorists to double check their blind spots as bikes can be difficult to see.

They also encourage riders to wear the proper safety equipment and not assume motorists can see them.

“The whole idea and premise of that is just being able to control your vehicle. So whether you are driving a car or riding a motorcycle there is no replacement for keeping space between you and the other vehicle.”

Walters Brothers Harley Davidson has been helping Peoria Motorcyclists stay safe since 1949.
