PEORIA – A group of local troops from the Air National Guard returned home Wednesday evening  to a warm welcome from their loved ones.

13 Security Forces Airmen of the 182nd Airlift Wing in Peoria touched down at the Airport just before 7 p.m.

They spent seven months deployed in an undisclosed location in the Middle East. Their efforts were in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

They were responsible for law enforcement and security missions in the region.

The airmen say it's a feeling that can't be matched and their loved ones definitely agree.

“It's the best feeling in the world honestly,” said  Staff Sergeant William Patrick. “Coming home with all the guys, that's good and then when you finally walk out the door and you see your family. It's the best feeling in the world, it really is.”

His wife, Tassia, agreed.

“I've been waiting a really long time just hoping he will get here soon,” she said, “Every single person that would walk down [my way] I was just hoping it was him.”

Many returning troops said they can’t wait time their family.
