PEKIN - The Avanti's Dome in Pekin is transformed into a Hawaiian luau tonight. It's for the inaugural Summer Fest.

Throughout the year, local bars have been holding karaoke contests.

The winners from those competitions are all performing tonight as central Illinois' own version of American Idol.

The contest starts at nine, during Jamm Sammich's intermission. Organizers say this event has been in the works for the past six months.

"It's finally coming together, I can't wait to get this off the ground and just feel the energy tonight here in the dome. It's going to be rocking and rolling,” organizer Charlie O’Russa said.

Tickets are $15 at the door tonight, and the whole event is a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club.
