A man, who was convicted of a 1993 homicide but later cleared of the crime, won a court battle Thursday in McLean County court. Alan Beaman is suing the town of Normal and three police officers, claiming they conspired to frame him. Thursday a judge granted Beaman's request to have an out of circuit judge hear the lawsuit. Beaman was convicted of the 1993 homicide of his ex girlfriend Jennifer Lockmiller. However, in 2008, after serving 13 years in prison, Beaman was released from prison after the Illinois Supreme Court overturned his conviction.
