Scattered showers provided some beneficial rain to parts of Illinois last week as corn and soybean production continues to progress. According to data released Monday by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, 86 percent of the corn is in the dough stage compared to the five year average of 76 percent. 80 percent of the corn is in good to excellent condition. 96 percent of soybeans are blooming compared to 93 percent last year. 78 percent of soybeans are in good to excellent condition. Topsoil moisture is rated at 5 percent very short, 16 percent short, 69 percent adequate and 10 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated at 3 percent very short, 24 percent short, 68 percent adequate and 5 percent surplus.
